Running and Random Thoughts

I am fortunate enough to have a lovely park with a 1.5 mile riverside trail to do my shorter runs on. Today on my 4 mile run I PR'd last week's time by 2 minutes. Hooray, for me.

This is significant because I have really struggled with my running this year. Since starting back in January most runs have been downright painful. I guess it takes a while for the body to readjust to the pounding. Today I felt more fluid and my hips didn't hurt. I am happy to see that my perseverance is paying off.

I share this trail with the local high school cross country team. They usually come bounding by me like gazelles, as I wheeze and pant. That would be the useless lungs I have. The high schoolers are fast, fluid and free. I wish I could run like that.
