On Saturday a bunch of TG's drove to Williamsburg to do a pre-ride of the Patriot HIM course. It was a beautiful, cool morning with low humidity promising a great ride. Having had little opportunity this summer to ride flat courses I was looking forward to this ride to see how months of hill climbing may have improved my stamina. I packed my race nutrition and wore my race clothing so I could really simulate race day.
The course is great! It is mostly flat, there are a few small hills scattered throughout but overall it is fast. There is one scary metal bridge to watch out for, especially if it is wet. Please weather gods no rain on race day. There are long straight stretches of road where you can tuck in aero and really hammer. Please weather gods no wind on race day. I followed the bike with a short 2 mile transition run.
I totally slammed my goals for the day which were to ride in aero for 90% of the time, eat all my planned nutrition, get off the bike feeling good with a decent bike split and have fun. Check!!!!!
Sunday morning had me up early again to do my long run. My running is coming along nicely and though I was nervous about the day's planned 10 miles, I felt good enough to give it a shot. Well my legs were definitely feeling the bike from Saturday but I trudged on and got it done.
So overall a great week-end of training and a big boost in confidence.

Way to go girl! Sounds like a solid weekend of training.
Awesome workouts! You are so on track for a great IMFL!
YEY!!!!!! Here's to good workouts, and nailing the nutrition/aero requirements. You "got 'er done!"
Hi Kate
I saw your message on Yahoo and wanted to wish you luck with training. I'll be there on the 1st as well. With Fl being so flat, you , you will be Aero the whole way so you had better get used to that. And as far as nutrition goes........ you mean your not supposed to be nauseous the whole time? ;)
Stop by and say hi
