Sink or Swim

This week I am back in the pool for the first time in 6 weeks. Obviously swimming is NOT my favorite event in triathlon. I struggle and agonize with my swim and it's just so damn hard to get in the pool some days.

I envy the "fishies" who make swimming look effortless as they zip up and down 10 times in the time it takes me to do 50 yards. Typically if I am going to blow off a workout it's the swim. I do enough to get through whatever event I'm training for and not one stroke more. Probably not the best strategy while training for an Ironman.

So over the course of the next year I promised myself to really give myself a fighting chance. I am going to do every scheduled swim and I'm even considering joining a masters swim group. Don't hold your breath on that one though.

At least if I still sink like a brick by the end of Ironman training I'll know I gave it my best shot. How's that for progress!
